Thanks Andy. (Got the car)

I've just been lucky enough to buy a damaged repairable MK Indy (very similar to almost all respects to the Haynes) but it nearly didnt happen because;

1. Other than a couple of Ebay pictures I had no way of knowing how extensive the damge was or even if it was practical to repair the space frame chassis  and

2. I happen to live down in Southend, the car was in Cleveland and I wouldnt have had a chance to get along to see it in the time available :( .

Thankfully it turns out that Handy Andy only lives a relatively short distance from the seller and volunteered to go and have a look for me.

Suddenly the prospect of of having it checked over by someone like Andy who builds Haynes chassis brought it within reach.:) He identified the areas that needed work and with the damage being quite limited it seems that cutting out and replacing rails was not only easier than trying to bend them back into shape but far stronger too.

Following Andy's advice the deal was done at the asking price of £ 2750.

Hopefully I will be able to track down the original owner and get some idea of the build history.

A few small mods and a windscreen and weather gear are planned for the months ahead when funds permit. Longer term plans are to look at engine options.

A big thanks to HandyAndy for making this happen.
:D

It can be VIC checked as it is,its an identity check rather than a repair check.

I saw that on ebay, its about 2mins from my unit

Didnt bother bidding on it though as I have seen it geting abused on the industrial estate, someone attempting to drift...........badly!

The engine sounds like a bag of hammers too

Also if handyandy thinks its an easy fix he must have a magic wand as the whole car is twisted as its had a few prangs

Although I just could be winding you up :D

It is near my unit though, that bit was true :)

Good luck with getting it sorted, doesnt look like it will take much to put it right

Actually it says it must have one if it's being driven to VIC.

I always previously understood it must have one regardless.

OK, that makes sense and probably explains why i have never been asked about the MOT as i always use the trailer.
