Pinto water works

Hi people just wanted a hand with my pinto water system which pipe goes where am I right in thinking top rad to thermostat in engine header tank to top of water pump bottom of pump to bottom of rad sorry everyone I am having a mental block with the water system
Thanks in advance oh yeah I have not got a heater also do I have to run a return to the header

The 16mm pipe from the pump usually goes to the inlet manifold
There is a smaller pipe that can goe to the header but the main header feed is usually Teed into the bottom radiator hose

From what I have gathered.

T the bottom hose between block and rad -> Header tank
T top hose between block and rad -> Header tank

Bleed from top of rad -> Header Tank (if you have one)

confirm

so then just to confirm
Top of rad to top of engine with a tee off to header out let then
bottom of rad to water pump with a tee off to header return the small out let on the water pump is not used so can be capped off
sorry for the confirmation but im a bit thick lol
thanks in advance

Yup,
Top as per sierra linky
Autochoke (if u have one) To top water pump linky

I think what I have is right, would like some conformation though.

Please can a kind soul with access to a Sierra manual tell me where the heater needs to connect into on a pinto lump ? I've got hold of a classic mini heater and a running car but without the Sierra manual I cant work out whether i need to cut the pipe which goes to the the auto choke and put the heater in series with this, whether it should go in the other pipe the same diameter instead or whether to put T pieces into both these existing pipes and connect the heater accross them.?

The 16mm pipe from water pump to heater matrix then from heater matrix out to inlet manifold/head

Header feed

Hi there is there any reason why the header tank feed can't go to the top hose rather than the bottom hose

The whole idea of the pinto header tank is that it constanly pumps over to the header tank to purge any air and for that to happen it needs to return via the suction side of the bottom hose. Anywhere else and it cant do its job.

If it did not return to the header tank it would not circulate and overheat as others have found out the hard way,it pays to drill a couple of small holes in the stat as it stops airlocks, the effects on the system heating up a negligable.
