battery
What size battery have people put on there sierra based builds?
I use a powervamp pv25 racing battery
Someone a little while ago recommended these to me, I've not had chance to look at them yet so cant say good/bad but apparently they come in very small sizes.

.
Sorry to clarify I meant cranking capacity
I'm planning to use the one from the donor unless someone comes along to tell me that's a really bad idea?
.
Yeah that was my thoughts also jps, however my donor did not come with a battery so was just wondering what size to go for.
I got a 40Ah Japanese form factor Varta, it's perfectly sufficient, cost me about 40 pounds, and weighs just 10 kilos.

IIRC the pintos are real hungry on batts and I needed 700+ CCA to start a lowly 1.6 so choose carefully Richard.....I tend to get all of my batteries from North East Motor Salvage at Peterlee for£15-£20 and that is checked with the hot wire type testers.
It's not like you'll ever have to start it at -15°C. And small batteries at normal temps perform like huge batteries at winter lows. IIRC Pinto's starter was 700W, not 700A. My CVH starter on a Zetec is rated at 1.2kW or 1.4kW, and I can crank for 30 secs without any sign of slowing down.

I tried several batteries in good nick from several cars including a couple of 2ltrs and I thought my starter was fubar (knackered ....for albert) and had it to bits twice to find nothing wrong.... when I checked I found all the batteries I tried were all 500 cold cranking amps or below ....when I wen to the local scrappy I asked for a sierra 1.6 battery ....off he went to check his battery chart then brought me a battery and tested it in front of me...took it home, put it on and away it went 1st turn of the key.....I am only speaking from experience.
