Fuel tank mounting
 

I'm mounting my fuel tank by bolting it in. It's steel by the way.
Never thought about it at first but now got to wondering why I don't see anyone else doing it that way. Is it ok for IVA? Seen plenty of road cars where the tank is bolted to the body through the tank seam.

I assume you have some kind of padding / rubber mount to stop the vibration of the vehicle putting pressure onto that plate? That's what I'd be worried about, the weld splitting if its directly bolted to the chassis.

Just found the paragraph from the IVA Manual (03A Fuel Tanks)

"fitted as to withstand the forces, vibration and corrosive environment to which it is likely to be subject"

Seems fine to me, I know kev is mounting it the same way.

I would but I don't have a tig and I never thought about it when I got kev to make mine.

It's just easier to put a strap round the tank than attach bracket and rubber mounts,I have seen Kev's and its up to the usual well thought out high standard (£5 in the post please):p .

There is always the chance of the bracket breaking and leaking,wont happen with straps hence the IVA man may prefer it.
