Cp3/4 positioning
I am about to start working on positioning cp3/4 is there anything I need to be aware of or pay particular attention to when making up and positioning them
Many thanks |
Lay them side by side and mark them with a perminant pen 'front' 'right' and 'left' on both plates, make sure that they are handed before you even think of welding them! I often make 2 right handed plates and have to start again on a left handed one and thats after making 50+ of the sodding things.

I had to remove the first ones I did because I was not happy with the welds of the nuts and the shock bracket.
It was a good thing, as I figured out the old ones were not completely lined up with the lower shock mount on the rear upright. So when I tacked the new ones, I used the shock absorber to line them up perfectly. Also I drilled RB1 and RB2 at the same time as CP3/CP4 to be sure to get exactly the same bolt pattern. Last, I chose to put M10 nuts and not M8, so the roll bar is fitted with M10 bolts. I trust this more than M8, I don't know if I'm right or wrong, but it is not a big deal anyway. Good luck :) PS: I just quickly put the pictures and a few comments on my blog a few minutes ago, if you want to have a look: http://vouchtroadster.blogspot.com/2...-2nd-ones.html |
