The IVA requirement is "When the vehicle is driven at speeds above 10mph, there must be
a degree of steering “self centring” evident." You can't really check it on a narrow residential street. On my Haynes, when driving down the street at 10-20 mph, and wiggling the wheel left and right a bit, self-centering is pretty weak, especially on semi-slick tyres. But when coming out a drifting hairpin on full lock I can release the steering wheel for it to unwind. So, even though self centering weaker than on production cars, it's there.
