I've always wanted to get into an 'engineering' hobby but didn't have the space or stability of where I lived (between 18 and 28 I changed addresses 11 times...!)

Once I got married (and the prep for our wedding was 18 months of DIY hobby I can tell you!) "can I build a car" was one of the first asks. Hence: marrried 26th May 2012, bought a part built Haynes on eBay 21st July 2012!

There have been plenty of DIY jobs that ran in parallel - but mostly unskilled and basically just doing my own labouring - I reckon I must have hand dug and barrowed 30 tonnes of topsoil and rubble in the last few years on and off - i'm fairly competent with a Kango - I got tennis elbow pulling out old wiring - I reinstated my suspended floors after the plumber had ripped them up well enough for them to be tiled over - I built retaining walls in the garden from sleepers - set on concreted rebar posts which I reckon would take a Challenger tank parking on the lawn. I also did the hard work in designing the layout of our house on Sketchup - our architect got an easy £800 I think because I gave him dimensions of every room, wall and doorway - he just made it look pretty for the planners!

My best work has been fitting out my garage I think so - it's SO tidy now!

Funnily enough - with all of the above - progress on the car has been disappointingly slow!
