The diagrams all seem simple in the book with a feed from the battery to the solenoid, with an output bradded cable to feed the motor. It also has a solenoid connector with a spade terminal.

However the loom from my 1986 Sierra XR4x4i has another cable attached with a copper crimp terminal on the end. Does anyone have any idea what this is for??

all you need is the big red +ve from the battery to the big terminal on the starter motor and then a wire from the smaller terminal on the solenoid to the ignition. for a test start just touch the solenoid wire on the +ve of the battery. also dont forget to connect the -ve wire from the battery to a suitable location on the engine and chassis.

if you pm me your email address i will email over some really nice diagrams you can print off on a3 paper

i would put them up on the forum but they have copyright on them so its not a good idea.
