I can't suggest what set 'to' buy, but as with most tools, don't buy the cheapies.
I got a £15 set for 'thread cleaning' purposes. I have tried to actually tap a couple of holes in metal and failed every time. Its not even very good for tidying up chewed threads. Its one of those things I really regret spending any money on. So I would avoid all the sets below £20 if you want to cut a thread. I think the next set I will buy will be nearer £50
