If you have a complete donor, with v5, or you buy a 'package' from someone whos broken a car, which includes chassis plates and documents then you can get an age related plate.
If you source everything separatly then the car will get a Q plate. Though this may be better if you have a specific criteria for the car particularly the engine and gear box.
I Ideally wanted a pinto and rear drum brakes. Ended up with a 2.0 DOHC and discs all round but that was all that was available so I bought it and was going to make it work. Also if you want a bike engine then it may save you space and hassle by not buying a donor car unless you dont fancy a Q plate.
