On the other hand - I used the one that came off my set of Escort pedals, remounted into my home-made pedal box.

It's been there 8 years now, and still giving good service.

It is worth looking for a proper brake pedal switch - they are tougher than your average switch, with a long travel between off and on (so you don't hit the switch's stops). They are 'normally off', until you push the brake pedal and the switch plunger goes fully out, at which time the contact is made.
