When I put mine on, the easiest way I found to check they where on the right way round so to speak was that the hole for the handbrake should be on the engine side vs back end of car if that makes sense and the handbrake should come in from behind so that the little lever / arm that's the handbrake part of the shoe assembly rests against the rubber bit on the oppisite side.
