I,ve done it the way you suggest but it seems to want to unwrap itself if touched ( checking for tightness ec ).
Is it worth wetting/soaking the bandage first ? then wrapping it, securing the ends then to start the car to heat up the exhaust? does the exhaust wrap then tighten up?

, I,ve never used this stuff before & being honest....its not as tight as I,d expected
Tho it does cover the clamps nicely
