			 after yesterdays drama with the fuel tank i had a nice surprise tonight.  i went out to make the modified alternator mount.  curosity got the better of me and i wanted to see what the problem was with the old one.  low and behold the alternator fits in the bay on the standard mount. 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
	
		
		
	
	
	has saved me a good bit of time and faffing about. im guessing the 1.6 isnt as wide as a 1.8/2.0 here is a picture for proof!! ![]()  |

			 hi, you could try a shorter belt mine seems to fit ok with the steering column in place but with the alternator swung up a bit
