![]() Hi, I've just tacked together a front wing stay, as drawn in the book, and it appears to be miles out when fitted to my car
![]() Also the book states the horizontal straps should be aprox 15mm from the tyre. I've got 14" wheels on and it's more like 40mm I intend to fit Saturn front wings. Has anyone else had any problems? Anyone got any pics?

![]() Hi there
I don't think you can use 14" wheels, apparently they won't go over the rear uprights (that's if you use book spec uprights) I hope I'm right, coz I've just sold my 14" wheels ready to buy new 15's Hope this helps Alan |

![]() One reason why you may have different clearance measurements could be down to your choice of tyre size. What size are the rims and what profile size are the tyres 45 50 55 60 70 you get the idea. Some times the answer as to why some thing does'nt fit is obvious, other things need a step back to see the bigger picture.

![]() I do plan to fit 15" wheels, just got the old Sierra ones fitted for now. The clearance, I guess I can work around. The main problem is the angle of the tubes seems wrong and cant get them close enough to the sidewall of the tyre. The brake caliper seems to be in the way.
Perhaps may be better leaving this job until I have the correct wheels and tyres!

![]() I believe the book was based on Sierra steel 14" rims and just fit, its the thicker rim of the alloy 14" rims that don't fit.
If you fit 15" alloy rims they will be fine. The problem with the book brackets is they don't go around the brake calliper, you need to kick them out around the calliper then back in again. The fixing points should fit on the Sierra uprights. Regards.....Andrew

![]() ideally IF it can be done the smaller the wheel the better.. The bigger wheels add weight to the suspension making the unsprung weight higher

![]() ive got big discs and calipers on the front, and had the same problem, cut the bottom plate that bolts to the ball joint, bolt it inplace and tack together with the frames slightly tilted back about 10mmish. then weld off the car
