![]() A quick question, excuse my ignorance, but never having seen one before, what does the master cylinder pushrod look like?. Is it M6 Bar threaded at just the one end that goes to the pedal clevis, or is it threaded at the master cylinder end as well, or just pushed in?, & approximately, how long is it?.
I've never taken a master cylinder apart, so it's new to me what exactly I need, cheers, Dave. |

![]() the sierra has a servo so its hasnt got a pushrod there is a plan in the book to make one.
its basicly a long bolt and lock nut with the head cut off and flat end rounded i found a cheap and easy sorce of clevis's is from trailer suppliers for my pedal box but its not a haynes one Last edited by baz-r : 15th October 2011 at 11:36 AM. Reason: typo |

![]() I've seen the plan in the book but is the rod just a push fit into the cylinder?, also how long a bolt do I need to start with, would studding be ok?, I've got an M6 clevis for the pedal, Dave.

![]() m6 is way to thin and studing would be weaker and softer than a bolt you want at least m8 8.8 bolt or harder im pritty sure the book uses a imp size
a too long bolt could always be cut shorter ![]() |

![]() The book actually says M6, but I must admit it seems thin. If I go for an M8 bolt, what length to start with, so I know what to buy?

Might not be worth the making. Bob

![]() There is a pushrod of sorts on the Sierra from the pedal into the servo but this is no use on the roadster,as sugested make one from a decent sized long bolt and clevis's are available from Rally design.
I personally would suggest you make it when pedals and pipes are all sorted as you need a full stroke of the cylinder for efficient brakes.

![]() Thanks all, I just need to know the length of the HT bolt I need, hope to get it locally Monday. Will a 120mm length be ok?
I have the pedals sorted and am doing the pipes and flexi hose this week. I just have to open up the master cylinder mounting bore on the pedal box first to about 40mm for the cylinder fitting. |

![]() there is more than one type of m/cyl fitted to sierra'S thats why you have to make it to fit what you have

![]() Understood, I'll concentrate on getting the MC fitted first and the rest of the brakes connected up, then measure up for the rod. Cheers all.
