Default Got my engine

Great day, a friend put me onto a s.o.h.c. engine and gearbox. The guy seeling it had taken it out of a Pilgrim Cobra. He ran it before changing it for a chevy, says it was running sweet as a nut and according to my mate that put me in touch the guy knows what he is talking about. Now at the rear of the head there is a temp. indicator stuck on it, which makes this guy think that the engine may have been re-conditioned, so that if you over cook it whilst running in it will turn red so making the warranty void and the good news is its still clear. Even better news is that the engine is complete, i.e comes with new alternator, new distributor, startermotor, exhaust manifold, inlet manifold and carbs. Can anyone tell me how to verify the engine size, I was told it is 1.8 but there is nothing that I can see to confirm this, oh and the real good bit is all for the princly sum of £100
