Manufacturers plate
Just been looking through the manual and got to the section about statutory plates.
Do I have to have a plate on the car with make model etc etc, or does this not apply to a kit car? If so where can I get a blank plate from. I have already put the vin number into the chassis, and on another plate riveted on. Thanks Gus |

Thanks ozzy.
Looking in the manual the plate only has to have the manufacturer's name and vin number on it. I assume the manufacturer's name would be Haynes, if you wanted to register it as a Haynes Roadster? Cheers Gus |

Afternoon Gus.
Would the manufacturer not be you? I haven’t forgotten about your aero screen just trying to keep the family happy might see if I am allowed out on Saturday afternoon evening if you are about. Cheers Ginge

Hi Ginge,
That is what I was wondering. I did make it, but would they then use my name on the registration form or is that a completey different thing? Need Ash or Mark to come along and see what they did I think. Im around Saturday any time. Just give me a ring. You got my numbers. Cheers Gus |

I made my own plate which was a piece of 3mm ali and letter punched "haynes roadster" built by M.Gates thats me by the way and also the date of manufacture, i used the completion date of my build: April 2010
You can buy a proper plate for the job which i think ash did (think i saw it on one of his photos) probably get one off ebay Obviously had the chassis no. punched on a plate attached to the bulkhead and also stamped into a piece of 5mm plate and welded to the chassis bracing in the engine bay Im guessing by these questions that you arent far away now? |
