MX5 Engine bay fuse box
Afternoon guys. Been a little busy lately, so progress has slowed a little on the build, but im starting to run the 'veins and arteries' of the car. Now the Loom doesn't scare me too much, but I have a question regarding the engine bay fuse/relay box.
Can the main fuses and relays be fitted 'outside' of the box to make the engine bay look a little neater (i.e. on the ali bulkhead)? or has everyone else mounted the original fuse box in the engine bay? |

I don't see why not?
I decided to replace the original fuses and relays and stuck the new ones under the dash out of sight (quite an old photo, I've since wrapped all the wiring): I then made a padded cover to keep IVA man happy: |

IS that the MX5 loom?
am I right in saying the top row are relays, the bottom row fuses? |

It started off as an MX5 loom, but I did end up replacing quite a lot of it! |

did you just replace the main fuse, head fuse etc (the big ones in the engine bay) with standard blade fuses?
Have you actually used the car with this setup? |

Everything else uses a blade fuse under the dash. I've driven over 1000 miles so far... Only 50 or so were in the dark with the headlights on though. Last edited by skov : 11th September 2013 at 04:33 PM. |
