![]() ok so i have very limited safe storage for my fibreglass, im looking at the saturn 10 piece deal so my question is how far along do i get before i start to fit the bodywork, i have a rolling chassis c/w suspension, engine and gbox. im starting on the brakes soon (next weekend) then im going to start to modify the chassis to suit the rear GRP panel, is there anything else i should do before i fit the nosecome, scuttle side panels and rear tub??

![]() Hi Carl,
have you put the electrics in place yet? as it helps knowing if you plan on having your fuse box either in the engine bay or under the scuttle, is your pedal box in yet? wait till you have the nose cone before fitting the rad into final position. Talking of brake lines..... where do you plan on fitting the rear flexi brake line bracket to the chassis? cheers andy |

![]() personally i would say wait until its on wheels with the brake/fuel lines, engine and electrics done. i got mine way to early and my nose cone has the marks to prove it.

![]() My plan is to basicaly get everything on the car, engine running, and putting bodywork on being one of the final tasks, just to minimise the risk of damaging it?

![]() You`ll probably need to fit it, then remove it, then refit it etc, but the bottom line is as Ash says, you`ll damage it more whilst it`s on, you`ll catch it & drop stuff on it, it will get dusty and grinding sparks on it when you make little brackets you never thought you would need etc etc. Fit it for reference then take it off, even if you have to store it in a bedroom or under a sheet in the garden! ![]() I agree with Drury - I'm currently working on the rear area of the chassis making up the support section fo the Saturn rear end so it's a bit of offer it up, check it fits and remove it.
So I'll take the get everything fitted, all brackets to support it in place and the strip it down and do a final rebuild on it. |
