Rear upright orientation
Just about to weld RU7 in to my upright. If it's welded in square it looks like the handbrake cable might not fit so I was thinking of welding it in off centre. That way the handbrake hole is accesible and the plastic stop can be reached from the side. I had to file a little bit of the side plate to clear the handbrake hole bulge. Anyone else come across this problem and how did you do it?

If you have disc brakes the rear upright needs to look a bit like this one:
Hope that helps, Enoch |

If you have a dig around the forum there is a thread I started on this, plenty of pics on the second build blog if you get stuck.

I welded mine in square so that the cylinder was at the top and horizontal. This meant that the bulge sits between the side plates of the upright. I then had to file a little bit out to get the flange of the cable past.

I've gone the off centre route. The brake pipe will have a bit more clearance from the top bracket and the handbrake hole is now facing upwards slightly making the handbrake cable just a bit less curved.
There's a lot of work goes into those uprights!
