Bec engine prep?
Hi all, last week i picked up the engine, it's a 2004 cbr 1000rr.
Is there any preparation I need to do before fitting in the car I.e sump, baffle plate, clutch springs, air box etc Anyone got a similar car? If so what's it like? Any hints tips etc? Thanks in advance joe |

BEC seem fairly rare in these parts, there are a few other builders. Things like sump will depend on how high/low the engine is.
Have you got a reverse solution ? TT

Going to go the starter motor route for the reverse I think. I know that some bec engines require a sump baffle due to the oil sloshing around in a car in a way it wasn't designed too but some engines don't require it

You will need a sump baffle in it or maybe even a dry sump kit.TTS probably the best people to speak to.You can put heavier springs in if you wish ,again TTS best bet.Its unlikely the standard airbox will fit but if you have it its definately worth trying to keep. Also do you have the wiring loom and the ecu and the key to suit.I think the new cbr have a key that relates to the ecu so if you dont have the key it could be a problem trying to get it to start.

The 04 cbr1000 uses honda HISS system, so will need a matching set of keys, barrels and ecu.

Yes I'm going to import a American ecu and adapt the loom to fit as the American bikes didn't have the hiss system. Seen a few custom air boxes made from carbon but bet there silly money?
