Rover V8
Hi all
Has anyone fitted Rover V8 to the Roadster, I think there is enough room , but not sure about sump modification? Anyway will be glad to hear if this is a good idea or to be avoided all together?:

The rv8 has little going for it asides from availability. Be sceptical when hearing power claims as well, it's s pig to get big power from And need huge money thrown at them to get truly impressive tunes. Good bhp can be had via forced induction but that puts even more strain on the minimal leftover space when in a seven type car.
If a v8 is essential I'd consider a small block ford along with an adaptor to take a box that's available in the uk (supra, jag, bmw). These engines will readily yield excellent power and are more compact. The exhaust face of the heads is angle down unlike the rv8 which is 90 degree from the road as such. Another option and arguably the best for uk builders is the excellent Toyota v8 which is stronger, lighter and more compact than the rv8. It's also very cheap and more powerful not to mention a billion times more reliable. That'd be my choice, oh yeah! |

I read an artical in a kit-car magazine a few years ago that said the Lexus V8 was the new RV8.
Readilly available, bulletproof and usually attached to a RWD gearbox already. It could be the same engine as the toyota V8 already suggested though. |

It's a fantastic motor and the source of a fair few 1000bhp monsters around the world.
When choosing what to build it was between the roadster and a classic rwd something or other but using the Toyota v8 as the engine. |

The 1UZ-FE is an awesome engine, but the main drawback is the gearbox it comes with. Whilst rear wheel drive it is auto only, and there is no manual gearbox which will bolt straight to it.
Also I'm not sure it's smaller than the RV8; from memory it's about 800mm square... don't hold me to that though!
