Default coilover covers

Would these be any good to get through the IVA 100mm radius test?

The actual shock itself is in an area that is not tested with the dreaded 100mm mushroom. The trapazoidal shape created inside of the wishbone frames is exempt.

That's what I thought, especially on the front. On another point though, if that area is exempt surely then there is no need to try and cut the side panel around the coil over and wishbone ends? Other than for aesthetic reasons?

Hmmmmm....

IVA Section 16 Exterior projections.

"Items within the volume enclosed by suspension components are exempt from exterior projection assessment."

"Where a vehicle consists of a frame structure or the surface has holes or sections without body panels fitted, all parts that are accessible with a 100mm sphere from the exterior of the vehicle are assessed against the criteria of this section, however where such items are deemed to be located within the interior of the vehicle, this section will only apply where they are located no more than 200mm from the outermost external surface surrounding the hole/gap and they are not an exempt item as listed in the Inspection Requirements of section 12."

Has anyone had a car through an IVA without panels in this area?

Not strictly true - the top of the shock protudes out of the exempt area and has the potential for ball contact!
I stuck driveshaft gaitors over the top of mine:

Interestingly my adjusters don't have any kind of locking mechanism and they passed
