Fan switch
Good day
I've searched through past posts about this but I'm still after some help. Bare with all the questions!! Does any one know if the switch as fitted to my 1.6 pinto will be ok to control the fan on my rad. This is a switch with a green plastic top and single spade on it, right? Is the temp range suitable I mean? Also I was going to fit a tee in there for my water sender and dash gauge, should be ok shouldn't it? I was also going to tee into the oil pressure low switch for my pressure sender, that be ok? Cheers Last edited by will_08 : 25th August 2018 at 08:50 AM. |

Hi,
I'm note sure the original switch on your engine is a fan switch. I think it is a water temperature sender. On the Pinto, IIRC, originally, the fan is mechanically driven, so there no reason there would be a fan switch. So in my opinion, you have a temp sender, and you'll need to add a fan switch on your cooling circuit. For the oil pressure sender, yes, you can use the place (tapered hole in the block) where the original oil pressure sender is, but you will need to use the sender that comes with the gauge. The original oil pressure sender will not work with an after-market oil pressure gauge. And make sure to know the thread of the original sender to use the right adapter. Hope that will help

Hi, I think you will find that the switch in your block is a temp. sender to your gauge, I have a pinto engine and i have used that for my gauge and I have fitted a fan switch in line in the water hose, one i bought was from CBS at first I fitted the higher temp switch but i have since changed it to a lower temp.
