Is it both shafts or just the one?I had this problem one time also which was due to the supplier dropping it on the very end of the stub axle and causing it to mushroom slightly, this can be remedied by carefully filing it down to fit. Also if u have a vernier caliper measure the shaft at different points to see if this is the case.

I had a problem like this , one side would go in fine but the other side would only go in a little way, in the end i just kept taking it out and trying it over and eventualy it went in.... now i dont now if they are actualy handed but make sue you get them the right way round since one side is longer than the other, i dont think that the splines are differant though.
hope this helps Tilly |

Hi Matt
Were the diff & shafts from the same car or were they pehaps obtained from sepperate sources ? It may be possible that you may have a set of push in shafts & a diff that had the lobro type shafts fitted ( Someone may have removed the stubs from a lobro diff ) As posted above, it is well worth checking the dimensions of the shafts & diff input bearings with a vernier caliper. It only takes a very small burr or tiny bit of rust to stop them engaging Keep us posted on your progress

The shafts and diff are from two different sourses as i'v got a 3.36 diff becouse from all the stuff i have read it is the right diff to have for a v8. I'v mearsured them with i vernier and the shafts seam to be about 1 mm biger in diamiter. not having much luck

The 3.36 diff is it a 7 1/2" as opposed to the 3.38 7" from an eco or diesel.
I had a 3.38 push fit 7" and swapped to a 3.9 shafts went straight in. Drum brakes |

Hi snapper. it is the 7" diff push fit. the thing is tho iv read up that the best diff ratio for a v8 is tho have a diff in the 3.3 range so i think i will have to try diferent drive shafts or does any one have any more thougtsmany thanks matt..
