Bonnet catches
I bought 4 rubber bonnet catches from Kitspares, and one of them has already failed... The others also show cracks...

Alga its called cheap indian rubber. The trouble is I dont think you can buy anything else, this cheap crap has put the quality producers out of buisiness.

Sounds like my rally design maxi balls. Never seen the light of day, been in the garage about 3 years and already cracks all over them.
What about the metal catches with the springs, (old caterham style)? |

Cheap? At 16 quid a pair it's hard to consider them cheap!
Maxi balljoints are a different matter -- they might have been produced 25 years ago, so it's understandable that the rubber has lost its qualities.

Has anyone tried putting hinges on their bonnet as an alternative to removing it each time ?
Im finding it's not always practical to find somewhere safe and suitable to put the bonnet when it's off. No problem at home usually but quite hopeless at the side of the road in windy conditions if you just need to pull over and tweak the mixture or idle speed etc. |

I bought the Westfield bonnet fitting kit,not cheap but seems a neater solution & very comprehensive. I have used the rubber type catches before & found that at speed they start to let the bonnet lift!

What does the Westfield bonnet fitting kit consist of ? Does it differ from the standard Roadster way of doing things ?
