Exhausts
I was thinking about what to do in terms of exhausts, and i would ideally like to use the manifold thats already on the 1.8 cvh and just weld some stainless bends together to go to the silencer. somthing like this:
now i really would like a stainless exhaust, but i really dont want to spend more than £50-100 on the whole exhaust system, so wondered where i could go to get some cheap/free stainless silencers. Also i would need some stainless bends so am not sure where to look for those either. I hope im not being abit over ambitious in trying to find a very cheap stainless exhaust somewhere

i too have been thinking about the exhaust route, having looked at various options by other builders i think similar to you for creating a welded turn on the exhaust down pipe, but in mild steel as its cheaper to get & easier to weld.
tho Adrian H,s solution looks good too, he,s used a 1.6cvh exhaust manifold that exits straight out towards the side of the car . hmmm decisions decisions andy

ok, i just had a look at adrianh's pics of the maniforld and what he has done looks pretty good, but i just thought why not just use some flexible exhaust pipe to go to the side, and then use stainless on all the bits that will be visiable fromt he outside. sounds like ti would be easier than making several bends, and shouldnt be too hard?

i too had the same idea but when discussing this with "Mark" the other day, he did bring up a good point..... would the flexible type bend to that degree?
i already have the silencer & so just need to connect the manifold to the silencer, how have others done this? any pics? cheers andy

The flexi stuff is a bit of a pain to weld as it's thin guage metal, bends are available locally to you Andy in Boro, pm for number.

im glad ive got a tig that goes down to 20 amps, so welding thin stuff aint a problem, im just wondering, do you know how flexible it actually is, as in would it be easy to do a 90+degree bend in.
