Transfering Reg numbers
I have a old car that is not on the road so has no MOT and not likely to have one with a quite a nice Reg Number.
But it is not a Sierra If I build a Roaster and not use any parts off this other Vehicle can I use the Reg Number on it. any one any idear. Thanks TrollyJack |

You don't get the number plate off the donor car just an age related plate ie if the donor is a 'H' reg then the age related plate you will get will also be an 'H' but not the same number

I think the vehicle bearing the plate has to have been taxed not more than IIRC 6 months prior to transfer. No recent tax = no transfer. No MOT/insurance = no tax. You probably could release the plate another way but the means would probably be regarded as dodgy. Actually, no, it is dodgy!!

If your roadster gets a "Q" plate then you cannot transfer another plate to it. Also you cannot make the car look younger than it is so if your roadster has a 'J' plate for example you cannot transfer a 'K' plate to it, any prior and including 'J' would be ok
