Default Iva............

Vosa finally got around to booking me in for an iva test

So 4.30am this morning with the help of spud who organised the towing dolly and the tow car (thanks again mate) of i went on the 2hr journey to beverley testing station

Pulled it into the testing lane and off the tester went, prodding, pulling things etc as you would expect and generally checked all the things we know about

He pointed out that my lights werent aligned properly and kindly let us align them in situe

After this he lifted the car up on the ramp with me in it and inspected the suspension and engine bay from underneath etc

When he emerged he asked "what do you do for a living"

I replied im a mechanical fitter and ex plater welder

He then said "what so you dont build cars proffesionally then"

This put a smile on my face and calmed the nerves a little

The rest of the test went well too field of vision in the mirrors ok, self centering was fine, brake balance fine and noise came out at only 83db

Anyway to cut a long story short

I PASSED FIRST TIME.................. YIPEEEEE

Ps. another big thanks to spud for all the help today

Nice one Mark,

Really am pleased for you.

Did you have your roll bar rear stays bolted down with two bolts each?

Cheers Ginge

My rear stays are made fom the same diameter tube as the hoop supplied by ash and extend down to the most outer lower point of the chassis where they are bolted through 8mm gusset plates with a m14 bolt. Just one bolt in each side but quite a hefty one!

OMG, I missed that one sneaking up. Does that make you the proud owner of number 013?

Here are a couple of pics from today, its just my car on the brake rollers and mr iva tester lining it up with the markings on the road to test the field of view in my mirrors

Al the vosa men were wearing hard hats shaped like the ones that the smurfs wear

My tester was a top bloke and it was a good day out, the pass was the cherry on the cake

I will post up some pics of the finished car when i get round to taking some good ones

Just a shame dvla wouldnt inspect it on the way home, they have changed the rules at my local office so i have to book an appointment at vosa darlington where someone from dvla will look at my chassis/engine no.

Its ironic that vosa beverley had it for 3hrs and the chassis/engine no was the first thing he checked out

I have to wait until the 20th of may, get it trailored there and then i can get my tax and logbook

Just one more hoop to jump thru and il be on the road, cant wait
