Default what paint do i use

hi
i am getting ready for rebuilding engine and would like to paint engine and gearbox.
what is the best paint to use and do you need primer/rust treatment first. (i have removed rust wat i can see)
is the paint expensiveand how much is required to do both engine and gearbox

A bit of degreasing, wire brush and paint with Hammerite is as good a job as any. Use the smooth finish. Done this a few times long lasting tough finish.

i did my block and head with spray can hamerite. gives a much better finish but you have to make sure that you cover up every little nook and cranny.

took the best part of 3days to get it like that. the only way to get a really nice clean engine is to fully strip degrease, de-rust, degrease again, wash off in solvent bath, then paint.

wont the hammerite come off with heat. thought i read on can it only goes to 60 degrees?
how long will it last
