Grinder sparks warning

Hi all,

I thought i would pass this on to everyone that is in the weld grinding stage.

Make sure you don't leave any wire wool around, as the sparks ignite the wire wool.

How do i know this,

I left a brand new roll of wire wool sitting on a pile of old newspapers on a stool, all i can say now is..........

I now need a new stool for the garage and another new roll of wire wool.

I once put a sheet of corrugated cardboard over something to stop it being damaged by angle grinder sparks...

...I set fire to the cardboard instead!

who hasnt had an 'accident' with a welder or grinder?

set fire to benches, a car, bits of cardboard meant to be protecting things and even myself on a few occasions most of my 'work clothes' are full of holes either from a grinder or welder!

I'll never forget when I was 10 and had to yell at my dad because his shirt was on fire.

He had no idea!

I managed to cut through the power cable whilst grinding in an awkward area last year, a big bang and all the customer programs lost from cnc mill controls that where all powered from the same ring main! Had a few angry engineers looking at me!! The worst bit about grinding for me is coming home with your hair full of stinky dust.

Here's a small list of things that where set fire to today through welding
half a scotch pad left on assembley bench, started by heavy mig splater nice nylon smell for 20 mins
oily rag under bench next to mill, again same cause 10 mins apart
left hand side of T-shirt due to leaning over mill table and soaking up oil, was wearing it at the time

I was grinding once and there was a car battery behind me and the sparks flu onto it and it blew up and had battery acid on my clothes from the back lol whoops
