Default Have I lost the plot?

Over the past few days people around me have started to question my sanity by what I have done to the back of my transit. Now to me this makes alot of sense but every body else thinks I'm nuts. I need a run around that I can throw heavy or dirty things at but I don't have alot of parking space at home, I also need a way of weighing in the odd doner shell or collecting a new machine for the shop. It was suggested buying a cheap 4X4 and a trailer, where do I keep the trailer and 4X4's are not cheap to run. So I have come up with a short flat bed transit with a removable 5ft beaver tail extension. Does this makes sense or does every body else think I'm nuts too?

I don't think it is such a crazy idea Phil, see quite a few trannys in these parts with a beaver tail

Why pay for the upkeep of Two vehicles when one will do the job of both.

I don't think it would be too much trouble in fabricating a removable beaver tail, you'll then have the best of both worlds

Admittedly the two beaver tail sections where made on the bench before I had a chance to offer them up to the bed so it may need a rework The beaver section can be put on by one guy standing in the middle of it, the whole thing just clips on the back untill the securing bolts can be put in.The winch that has been sat on the shop floor for the past 2 years is now back on the truck with a much needed wireless remote. The lights on the rear section plugs in to the trailer socket. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that see's the sense in doing this, after you've been told by 5-6 people that it won't work or just walk away laughing you start to wonder........

I see what your saying there les but it's not realy about speed it's about being able to mount it on the truck with one pair of hands. I don't do road side recovery just pre arranged transport of dead motors. I'd prefer to put eight 8.8 M10's to hold it rather than antiluce which are only ment to keep drop sides closed.
