Default Zetec engine ages

Hello all, I have a donor 1.8 cvh sierra & upto now I was happy to use the engine but I am having second thoughts. I may want to use a Zetec engine, can anyone tell me how I can tell the exact age and authenticate it for the IVA test? Also is it still the case of pre Aug `95 no cat & post Aug `95 I will need a cat? Is a cat much more of an expense if I use fuel injection anyway?
Lots of questions!, I hope someone can help!
Dennis.

The engine number will give you the date of manufacure.

For a detailed explanation have a look at this page on the Burton power web site

Burton Power

I believe that some Locost builders have used this chart to prove the age of an engine with DVLA
