![]() Quick one for you knoweldgeable chaps...
Cleaned the rocker cover yesterday and check the valve clearances. On further inspection I reckon all the cack and grease on the front of the block/belts/pulleys is coming from a leaking rocker cover gasket. Is the standard naff cork one actually any good, or can you use a liquid silicone one??? |

![]() John,is the front oil seal ok. Try a new gasket with a little Blue Hylomar and not nipped excessively.
Its good enough for Rolls Royce so why not us mere mortals... |

![]() Do you put the Hylomar on one side of the gasket or on both??

![]() I like to put a light smear on both faces of the gasket
The secret is not to overtighten the rocker cover retaining bolts & follow the correct tightening sequence. ![]() Done my pinto engined Transit one last year, still as dry as a bone ![]() ![]()
