Chasssis Problem
Hi
Was working on my chassis last night and found a bit of a problem. I found that TR9 is out of line. By 36mm on the passenger side. Will this cause any problems later in the build or can i work around it? The chassis is fully tig welded so want to avoid cutting it out. Would appreciate any ideas you may have thanks

If you do have to repair it by cutting it out weld a brace to the chassis otherwise it moves under the stress as I found out the hard way.
Good luck. |

I know you don,t really want to hear this, but .....
with it being 36mm & not 3.6mm out of line I personally would cut it out & replace to the correct dimensions, & if you do, then before you cut it out tack in a brace to avoid the chassis distorting. Sorry, I don,t wish to sound like a "kill joy" but a 36mm error is alot. cheers andy |

ok thanks.
I have a mate who did all the tig welding. I will get him to come round again and see what he thinks. Thanks for your thoughts, will let you all know how we get on.

was everything cut to Book specification ? If so it should all go together..
If not you need to check every length an angle that has been laid. TT

Yea it was all cut to book spec which is why i couldn't understand why it had happened?
I am tempted to leave it and use alloy sheet to correct the problem when in comes to fitting the scuttle?

Sorry but you need to start off with a good square and flat chassis otherwise you're going to come across loads of problems later on and 36mm is an awful lot. If its only tacked then i would check your build table is marked out correct, HAndy may have some spare templates left, and remake it. Or you could bring it over to the North East and i'm sure me and HAndy could remedy the problem and jig on the suspension brackets so that you have a good base to start from.
All the Best....AndyH
