Default Another electrical problem..

I'm not great with all of this electrical malarkey and have got a bit stuck..

Basically I'm using the DOHC engine and I've cut all of the unwanted bits out of the loom, lights etc and all of the fuses that go along with it, but all I get is the ignition relay clicking as I turn the key.

I would have thought the problem lies with the anti-theft device (PATS?) as a lot of the wires coming out of it don't go anywhere anymore, things like door sensors, radio etc.

Just unsure where I'm even meant to start? Any help would be great!

Thanks Luke

I did the same thing and it cost me a month of faffing about.
I couldnt get a spark at the plugs , nothing would work. I think the system was immobilised when I cut out the alarm wires, door locks etc (otherwise anyone could snip some wires and drive your car away)

If you are not a genius auto electrician dont bother.

I got a quote from Premier Wiring for £140.00 delivered. No contest

Are you getting any noise from fuel pump when you switch ignition on ? should spin up for a second or 2 to pressurise fuel rail..? you could run a live and neutral to the coil and a switched feed from ign to the starter motor and fire it up that way..also make sure all your eart wires are connected...i had that and 1 wire which had tucked itself away was stopping the whole thing fron going ..

PATS

Unless it's a Scorpio 16V or Galaxy 16/8V then it won;t have PATS it wil have PUATS...

forget about the car loom. the engine loom is seperate. Getting it running does not require the body loom. Bypassing the "Pretty Useless Anti Theft System" is not beyond the skills of a Mallard Duck given a little info...

So finally got it going, well sort off..

Managed to bypass the anti theft module so it now starts but as soon as it starts it just revs up so I have to cut it off as it doesnt seem to even off? Could this be a leak in the manifold? Or an idle sensor fault?

Any ideas? Feels great that its almost there! Thanks

It's most likly an air leak.

3 common culprits

The engine breather that runs round the back of the block,
The Take off stub that went to the brake servo
The Pipe from the ISCV to the Plenum.
