Brake pipe routing
I'm lowering the floor on my build and want to use the side of the lowered floor to run the fuel and brake pipes (I know it they will be close to the road in this position. Will Mr IVA man be upset by me bringing the brake pipe down and around lower chassis member bringing it closer to the fuel pipes. Or should I take it over the top?

i dont see that being a problem as long as they are in the tunnel and not the passenger compartment, my brake line and fule lines are right next to each other, run the electrics on the opposite side

Not wanting to pee on the bonfire people but why not higher up the tranny tunnel to keep them out of harms way,and as the floor has been lowered it makes more sense to me.

Will the car still get in the rollers at the testing station without the floor bottoming out? Just thoughts because i wanted to lower the floor where just the bowl of the seat squab goes but was advised the cars belly out on shite roads as they are.

The engine sits 40mm lower than the chassis rails anyway so I thought I'd lower the floor 40mm. Being quite tall and wanting to use the mx-5 seats it seemed a reasonable design. I don't intend to be driving it on unknown roads surfaces and if I do it will be slowly. It's a road/race vehicle after all not a commuting/utilitarian vehicle. I also prefer to keep the brake and fuel lines away from gearbox and diff/prop movement. :shrug:
They offer floor lowering on the Caterham R500 as an option and as I said the Westfield has a lower floor. |

Yeah thats true, my bell housing is the lowest point at 25mm below chassis rail and thats had a few good belts since its been finished
|

Caterham CSR has a ground clearance of 100mm.

i got me a screwfix angle drill adapter and drilled holes on the inside of the trans tunnel and tapped them for the rear brake pipe and fixed p clips to hold it
as for my fuel pipes i fixed two copper pipes to the floor with m5 dome head s/s hex heads down the side of the trans tunnel as the i cant see the floor touching the road ever |
