![]() This is a question to anyone building an 1.6 mx5 based car???
I remember reading when skov installed his engine the inlet manifold was too high for the bonnet to close properly until the engine was moved slightly to the nearside of the car. I have looked at these measurements on his flickr/protobucket pages. I am sure I alse read that someone else managed to get their engine to fit without any modification? If I produce my mounts so that the sump is 4cm under the lower chassis rails will this fit without moving the eninge to the side? Thanks for your help!!

Build cost.... seems to be spending more on tools than car bits at the moment! (they will be handy in the future though). Car iva'd and passed 15/08/2014. Finished weight 572kg. |

![]() Apparently not!
I think Johno has test fitted the Saturn/NTS bonnet over his 1.6 recently, but I think he may have shifted his engine over slightly too. I can't think of anyone else that has got that far with the Saturn build ![]() I plan to test fit mine in both positions again, but it's probably going to be a month or two before I get around to it. |

![]() Quote:
![]() I mounted my engine 40mm below the chassis and used Skov's measurements to move the engine over slightly. We left our original throttle bracket casting on and that cleared the bonnet with the large scoop too. Johno |
