| Black hylomar / wynns black gasket maker as long as its rtv silicone you should be fine i used to use this to seal my mini engines after a rebuild and thus have sealed my tank with it doesnt appear to have gone mushy and i sealed it some months ago and have had fuel in it since

| I sealed around my fuel sender with Blue Hylomar. I also used a sealer from Frosts to seal the bolts. http://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-br...seal-75ml.html http://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-ga...t-sealant.html |

| This is why I wont use silicone on a tank. This is the brand of instant gasket we use, nowhere on the tube does it say its ok with fuels, water oils ect yes. Our fitter replaced a cork gasket that had broken on top of a fuel tank while it was in for a service. Less than a fortnight later its leaking and the silicone has gone all mushy The 3m gear stays intact. Bob

| I've seen people use JB Weld-type epoxy sealants on gas tanks... But maybe that was something specialised.
