Default MX5 handbrake

Hi guys, lm using mx5 rear brakes and having trouble routing the handbrake cables to avoid rubbing the chassis.
I’ve tried bending the cable bracket to no avail.
I’ve tried cutting and re-drilling, still no joy.
Has anybody tried swapping the cable over so the cable comes out the rear of the calliper?
Essentially chopping off the nipple guide on the lever and attaching a cable mount then making a plate with a nipple guide on it that bolts back on to the calliper.
