The original book "Build a sports Car for £250 or less" has no technical relation to the "Build your own sports car"

The former was for the escort running gear which by the time of the publication of the second book had become sought after. The second book was entirely sierra running gear with the exception of the escort rack for it's narrow body.

In 2010 you could buy a sierra for £70 with an mot.

By 2015 a ropey runner sierra was £700

Both Saturn and Tallon created adapted plans for MX5 which at the time could be had for 200-300 in scrap format..

You can still get a MX5 for under 500 on ebay.

BMW was never a "Supported" build by any of the established Fabbies at the time. E30 based cars were probably the favourite which included the E36 Compact ( as that actualy used a lot of E30 components.) But they are all few and far between.

If I had not got the components, then a MX5 would be the route.

And to Clarify an earlier statement, no the Audi TT is not a donor.
