New Build

Recently been bitten by the 'build your own' bug, found the Chris Gibbs book, & here I am about to embark on an epic journey!!
I've managed to source a few componants & materials except the crucial one- a doner!!
Sierras are hard to come by now, so too escort steering racks & transit links- any alternatives?
I was thinking of an RX7- I think the small engine size etc would work, but will I be able to adapt the chassis?
All the help & advice I can get would be well received.
