Dual Personality rear Uprights ( Handy Andy?? )

Is there any reason that rear uprights can not be made to accept either drum or disk? Looking at the book it would just be a case of the Plate being a slightly different shape and drilled and tapped for 8 mounts.

Or is there a clearance issue?

It would give builders the option to change their setup at a later date without extra cost.
