fuel pump wiring

few days ago I was asking the location of the fuel pump on my donor Sierra.
Well I found it.....
It was under the spare wheel well.

Statement.......I hate bl@@dy wiring....
Question.....The pump is huge...( Hang on that's a statement as well )
The wire supplying it seems to be quite heavy.
I am using 10 core trailer wire to the back of the car, which is only about .75mm.
Can I use 2 of these thin wires to power it, or don't it work like that.

Second, not really a lecky question.
But does the pump have to lay on it's side, or can It be stood upright?
I know it needs to go near the tank, but just cant find a suitable location on its side.
