Hi James

The spigot bearing is a caged set of needle bearings.

The reason as to why you need to fit one is to support the end of the input shaft of the gearbox at the flywheel.

Ford front wheel drive cars have a very short gearbox input shaft & a spiggot bearing is not needed at the flywheel.

The Ford type 9 & MT75 gearboxes have very long input shafts & need to be supported at the flywheel.

No big deal to fit one as the flywheel is pre drilled ready to accept one
