Default Fuel pressure regulator?

Questions is, where to put it and do I need the little vacuum take off for it?
Im going to be using R6 Tb's, I know that it goes: fuel pump, Rail, Fuel pressure regulator. However, Is the vacuum really needed? Because if not, then Im thinking of putting the regulator in the rear of the car, near where the fuel returns to the tank?
Any opinions welcome guys, Cheers Jas
