Ummm do I need the Book?

New Guy here
I have Champions' book only, the Haynes one needs shipping from the UK, as I'm in Canada and it's seemingly not locally available.
Is there enough information contained in these forums to be adequate to needs for assembling the Roadster chassis? Do I really need the Book?
Also a donor question: No Sierra was ever sold here. So my choices are either MX5 or BMW.. presumably both are adaptable, with the Miata being the more popular choice ? Just wanting a bit of reassurance.
