Kickdown relay circuit?!?!

Don't know if I want the answer to this but think I just lopped out the kickdown circuit (actuator plug back to relay) from my wiring by mistake... can someone confirm this is required or is it only applicable to automatic set-up? Hope is automatic gearbox
