we have one metal lathe at the school, un-used for 2.5 years since new! we used to have 10 in the old building, a 20 when I was a pupil at my school!

What does that tell you about the state of manufacturing skills in the UK...

I am going to make use of the sole machine, if I can work out how the f..k to make it run as I spent 20 mins unable to find the spindle start button , there was a Jog, stop, brake , etc.. but no obvious start
